Calia Brencsons-Van Dyk’s life has taken her from the Midwest to the East Coast and to Paris, Provence, South Africa, Las Vegas, the San Francisco Bay Area, and New York City. From a family of food lovers and artists, it was natural that Calia would find herself drawn to creative and culinary adventures. Having spent much of her childhood in the south of France, followed by later travels and studies, she speaks French, German, and Danish, and is certified in all three. Her minor in Theatre at Mills College won out over her International Relations major and steered Calia from her intention to pursue law and toward the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the world of the theatre, where she worked as an actor, writer, and public relations manager. She later spent time in England and France, sponsored by the International Theatre Institute completing a translation of the letters of Catherine the Great to Voltaire. Filmmaker and Oral Historian, Erin Derham, is an international award winning Director who began her career editing and directing for PBS. After receiving an MA in History, she | founded History Boutique Films, and made Buskin’ Blues, a music documentary exploring the secretive lives of street performers. It won numerous awards, screened at film festivals all over the world, and was released for worldwide distribution in 2016. Her current films on the festival circuit are Julian Price, a historical documentary about an inspirational philanthropist, and Blue Air, a narrative short film following a young mother and child finding strength in the great outdoors. Erin has a career in storytelling, working with clients like PBS, Red Bull TV, MIT, NOAA and Echo Mountain Recording. Derham's passion for filmmaking is shown on screen by exploring the human experience and her creative fury is evident in all of her work. Music is an obsession, and becomes integral to her storytelling process, regardless of the topic.
