Adam Kane was born in Southern California to a musical family. The son of composer Artie Kane (Looking For Mr. Goodbar, The Eyes of Laura Mars) and studio singer Sara Kane (Andy Williams Show, Perry Como, The Sound of Music), Adam found his personal voice by telling stories with pictures and creating home movies.

Three decades of filmmaking has made Adam one of the most sought after Directors working in Hollywood. Adam just finished production on the debut episodes of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY for CBS All Access and is the Executive Producer/Director for the highly anticipated television adaption of Neil Gaiman’s AMERICAN GODS, currently airing on Starz and Amazon Prime. Adam has Directed episodes of the hit series DAREDEVIL, 24:LIVE ANOTHER DAY, HANNIBAL, SLEEPY HOLLOW, EXTANT, MINORITY REPORT, HEROES, PUSHING DAISIES, SUPERNATURAL, THE MENTALIST, KINGS, MY OWN WORST ENEMY, and the Pilot for the Stephen King series HAVEN. Adam served as Executive Producer/Director for the Emmy nominated hit UnREAL, and Directed/Executive Produced the Pilot for the space opera HIGH MOON, created by AMERICAN GODS, PUSHING DAISIES, and HANNIBAL showrunner Bryan Fuller. Previously he was the Executive Producer/Director for SyFy’s hit BEING HUMAN (he also directed the Pilot), was the Producer/Director for the Golden Globe nominated hit PUSHING DAISIES and the Supervising Producer/Director for NBC’s medical drama MERCY.

In Feature Films, Adam’s political thriller FORMOSA BETRAYED was theatrically released in over 80 cities across the U.S. and Canada by Screen Media Films. It won Best Feature and Best Actor at the San Diego Film Festival, and the Audience Award at the Philadelphia Asian American Festival. Adam’s family drama, THE FIX, won nine major festival awards, including Best Drama, Best of Fest, and Best Director. It qualified for the 2007 Academy Awards.

Adam first became enamored with filmmaking at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he discovered cinematography. Adam photographed eight films during his Undergraduate career, winning Best Cinematography two years in a row at the NYU Film Festival.

He was then accepted in to the highly competitive and prestigious American Film Institute, where he graduated in the top two of his class. After earning his Masters Degree, Adam continued to work in independent feature films, commercials, infomercials, and low budget television, including the original promo for the MTV series CATWALK. During this time he also worked for the Associated Press Los Angeles-based video news division, covering national news events including the Murrah Federal Building bombing in Oklahoma City.

Over twenty five features later, Adam has worked with such actors as Matthew McConaughey, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., Willem Dafoe, and numerous others in New Line Cinema's THE MAN, THE BOONDOCK SAINTS, LOVE & SEX, ROMEO MUST DIE and Lion's Gate's SKINWALKERS. Longtime collaborator Rod Lurie's feature, RESURRECTING THE CHAMP (Samuel L. Jackson, Josh Hartnett, Alan Alda), premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.

Between shooting feature films Adam shot several Pilots for television such as the Emmy Nominated hit HEROES for NBC, REUNION for Warner Bros./Fox, LEVEL 9 for Paramount Television and SAM'S CIRCUS for Columbia Tri-Star. His television credits include NBC's WAR STORIES and THE WEST WING, CBS's HACK, and ABC's long running hit GREY'S ANATOMY and critically acclaimed LINE OF FIRE. His numerous commercial clients include MTV, Philips, Hoover, Skechers, DirecTV, Mail Boxes Etc., Subaru, Infinity, Nissan, Honda and Calvin Klein.

Adam received a 2015 DGC Award nomination for Best Director of a Television Movie for HIGH MOON, as well as a 2007 ASC Award nomination for Best Cinematography for his work on the pilot episode of HEROES. He has been the recipient of several other awards including the Mobius Award for Best Commercial Work (2002), the Golden Camera at the US International Film & Video Festival (1998), and Telly awards for his commercial work on Mail Boxes Etc. and a documentary for Disney. He also won best film at the Austin Film Festival (1997) for THE CLEARING, special recognition at the New York Film Festival for CONVERSATIONS IN LIMBO, and two best cinematography awards in New York in 1990 and 1991.

Adam is an active member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Director’s Guild of America, the Director’s Guild of Canada, and the American Society of Cinematographers. He holds a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute.
